JEE Mains Paper Analysis Day 1(Shift 2): 7, Jan 2020

S. No Section No of Questions Good Score Difficulty Level *
1 Physics 25 70+
2 Chemistry 25 75+
3 Mathematics 25 76+
Total Good Score **:221+ Easy Medium Difficult

* The difficulty level of a section is assessed as a function of both the toughness of questions as well as deviation from expected pattern. This analysis is based on the memory of our students. We will update as and when we have more information.
** Good score is defined on the score that will give a 98+ Percentile

Sectional Analysis

1.Physics :

IPE 1st year IPE 2nd Year
44 % (~11 /25) 56  % (~  14/25)
Module No. of Qs Notes
Mechanics I ~4 Questions from this Module were on expected models,
with a mix of formula based and concept based questions. Friction model was time consuming but others from units and laws of motion were ok
Mechanics II ~3 Questions were of easy to medium level and a little time consuming, unlike morning slot. Conceptual and formula knowledge helps
Thermal Physics ~ 4 Questions from KT of gases, thermodynamics and Fluid mechanics. Questions were unexpected but mixed difficulty level and time consuming
Wave & Optics ~ 3 Formula based questions from waves and optics, no surprises
Electromagnetism ~8 Questions from this Module had highest coverage. Theory and formula based, some were difficult and definitely time consuming
Nuclear Physics ~3 Questions from this Module were mostly expected
models, with a mix of formula based and concept based questions . Atoms and Nuclei and DNM were difficult and time taking

2.Chemistry :

IPE 1st year IPE 2nd Year
50 % (~ 11/22) 50 % (~ 11 / 22)
Module No. of Qs Notes
Physical Chemistry I ~7 Most of the Questions in this Module were calculative but they were easy in lieu with expected models from Chemical Bonding, States of matter, Thermodynamics, Stoichometry and Acids Bases.
Inorganic Chemistry I ~2 Theory Questions on expected lines, with no surprises.
Periodic table and Hydrogen and its compounds were the chosen one
Organic Chemistry I ~2 Compared to other modules easy to medium questions
were asked
Physical Chemistry II ~2 Surprisingly only two questions from Solutions and
Electro chemistry were asked and one of which though
theoretical was tricky
Inorganic Chemistry II ~ 5 Familiar type of easy questions from NCERT but couple for a little time taking. Coordination compounds took a bigger share just like morning shift.
Organic Chemistry II ~4 Questions from Reactions mechanisms, Hybridisation
and Biomolecules were of higher level of difficulty and
time consuming compared to other sections

3.Mathematics :

IPE 1st year IPE 2nd Year
 36% (~9 /25) 64  % (~  16/25)
Module No. of Qs Notes
Trigonometry & Algebra I ~2 Familiar question types from Matrices
Geometry I ~3 Questions based on Product of vectors, and St Lines & 3D were easy
Calculus I ~4 Questions from application of derivatives was difficult ,derivatives was time consuming.
Algebra II ~6 Questions from Binomial, Complex Nos and Measures ofDispersion were easy , Theory of equations and RV were of moderate difficulty and time consuming
Geometry II ~2 Question from Circle was a little time time taking but
from ellipse it was easy
Calculus II ~4 Only one medium difficulty question, remaining were
familiar and easy from DI, DE
Functional Algebra ~4 One question from Series was moderate and time takingbut remaining from Mathematical Reasoning, Sets and Series were on expected lines
