1.About University

Shiv Nadar University SNU was first founded in1994 as Shiv Nadar Foundation (SNF) which created its first initiative, Shri SivaSubramanya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) in Chennai. The SNF decided to establish a unique research – led interdisciplinary university which it achieved in 2010in 286 acre land near Dadri as its campus. The University’s under graduate syllabus was the best & unique in India. The University was established by the Act no. 12 of 2011 of State Legislature of Uttar Pradesh as a State Private University, and was empowered by the UGC to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. The University started the Engineering Majors in the academic year 2011–12 with the approval of the AICTE. The University is currently registered with DSIR, Government of India as a Research Institution. The University’s stated aim is “to create an enduring, research-led, inter-disciplinary university. It was founded as part of a series of initiatives launched by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation funded by Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of HCL.

Shiv Nadar Foundation is registered public charitable trust, created under the Indian Trust Act 1882 and registered under the Registration Act, 1908. Shiv Nadar Foundation was established in 1994, with a primary focus to create iconic institutions of excellence in learning across the education spectrum. SSN Foundation has other initiatives apart from Shiv Nadar University. They are:

1.Vidyagyan: Established in 2009, this institution focuses on educating the economically under previlieged& meritorious children of India.

2.Shiv Nadar School: Established in 2012, this institution was founded to provide K- 12^th class education.

3.SSN: Established in 1996, this institution in Chennai aims to pursue excellence in higher education & research.

4.Shiksha: Established in 1994, this institution focuses on technology enabled learning for grades 1- 5.

5.KNMA: Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, established in 2010 aims at exhibiting modern & contemporary art of India & Sub continent.

4.Campus

SNU was established in 2010, in a 286-acre land plot near the town of Dadri was earmarked for building the campus in National Capital Region. The University’s campus has 6 academic blocks, 154 laboratories and studios, 9 student hostels, 3 dining facilities, 15 sports courts and 2 gymnasiums, and an Indoor Sports complex. Shiv Nadar University is the first private university and only the fifth research institution in the country with a ‘High-Performance Computing Cluster’ with 30 Teraflops of peak performance for research requiring advanced computational capabilities. Apart from hostels, a residential complex is built for visitors. The faculty residential complex is under construction and is expected to be ready by 2016. Clubs and forums offer various extra-curricular activities for students, faculty, and staff.

SNU offers admissions to Under graduate courses through SNUSAT( Shiv Nadar University Scholastic Aptitude Test) & to Post Graduates courses in Academics through SMAT (Shiv Nadar University Management Aptitude Test) for MBA, DAT (Design Aptitude Test) for Design course, Separate entrance tests for MTech & MA which are conducted every year in the months of May & June. SNU offers Under Graduate courses in 24 departments in 5 schools, Post Graduates in 22 departments in 5 schools, PhD in 4 streams, Diplomas in 6 streams which are offered to 2183 students who are mentored & guided by 195 faculty.

9.Selection Process

• SNUSATis a Computer Based Test (CBT)
• It is 3 hr, 180 min exam & will be conducted in 2 sessions, i.e.

• Each question carries 1 mark which make total of 160 marks for the entire exam.

• No negative marks for wrong answer.
